Position Summary: To provide a professional reception service to patients, consultants and visitors ensuring that standards and procedures are maintained to the highest level.
General
Responsibility:

- Meet and greet patients, visitors, consultants and staff and deal with their enquiries in a polite and professional manner.
- Answer telephone enquiries, referring where appropiate.
- Awareness and compliance with hospital policy.
- Provide a pleasant and efficient telephone service for patients, doctors, visitors, staff and any other callers.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of hospital services and facilities.
- Keep the switchboard area clean, tidy and free of obstuctions.
- Complete and maintain all necessary log books as required.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the Switchboard Supervisor or Senior Members of Management.
- Ensure cardiac, fire and bomb procedures/testing are carried out correctly.
- Be familiar with staff and units within the hospital to provide a more efficient service.
- Operate and programme the internal bleep system.
- Report system faults as appropriate.

Requirements - Flexibility and the ability to work varied shifts on weekends.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good team player.
- Customer care skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise tasks.
- Computer literate.
- Good general level of education.
- Previous reception experience in a hospital environment is a distinct advantage.
