Position Summary: To be accountable to the Deputy Radiology Manager for the day-to-day management of the radiographers and the radiology services in the Main Department, in order to provide a professional, efficient and cost effective Department.



General
Responsibility:

*Ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the Department of Clinical Radiology by organising the efficacious utilisation of staff and resources in the Main Department

*To ensure that the appropriate level and distribution of skills mix of radiographic and support staff are in place in order to meet service needs and development.

*Developing and monitoring professional and patient care standards.

*To develop and lead a planned programme of Continued Professional Development (CPD) for all radiographic staff. To work with all the other Superintendents in the Department to achieve this for the staff.

* Assume direct responsibility for the admin staff with in the department .

*To work with the Radiology Manager to establish clinical audits and clinical governance processes within the Department as they effect the radiographers and radiologists.

*Assist in identifying improvements within the Department on an ongoing basis and to oversee the implementation of improvements that have been identified and agreed with the Radiology Manager.

*To deputise for the other Superintendents in their absence

*To liase with the Radiation Protection Supervisor to ensure the implementation of Radiation Regulations

*To ensure all records are kept for the required statutory period.

*To ensure all admin staff working in the General Department are furnished with all the relevant information with respect to departmental protocols and procedures.

*To conduct first level capability grievance and disciplinary meetings.

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

*DCR or BSc in Radiography
*Management Experience an advantage
*CPSM Registration
*5+ years post-qualification with diploma/experience in specialised area
*Radiation protection certificate

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

*Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
*Information Technology
*Health and Safety Training
