Position Summary: This is a senior post with joint reporting to the facility CEO and the Corporate Director of Clinical Performance. It is anticipated that the postholder will be a core member of the facility executive team. The postholder will be expected to develop an approach to clinical performance assessment and improvement which integrates process and outcomes measures, incidents and complaints issues in line with corporate guidance. The postholder will also be the lead for quality, regulatory compliance and accreditation to include research governance. As well as delivering on corporate strategic and statutory reporting requirements the postholder will be expected to identify opportunities for quality improvements and quantify benefits derived from their implementation using audit and other methods. The postholder will be a main point of contact between the medical clinical governance lead, the MAC and the facility administration and will have a major role to play in the performance assessment and recommendations on the renewal of practicing privileges. The postholder will be pivotal in bringing together facility level performance with the operational activities needed to support the business.
General
Responsibility:

 To support the Corporate Director of Clinical Performance by actively participating in clinical performance monitoring and improvement programmes and identifying quality assurance procedures specific to service provision.
 Attendance at MAC and presentation of statutory and other relevant clinical performance data to inform consultant credentialing and renewal
 With the facility Executive Team to ensure that the hospital meets statutory requirements
 To promote a quality research culture compliant with research governance requirements
 To provide leadership and coordination for robust information governance programmes, data confidentiality and Caldicott audits
• To provide a coordinated approach to the analysis of incidents, complaints and performance metrics such that opportunities for quality improvement are identified
 To identify opportunities for relevant external accreditation and other awards
 With the Executive Team to promote a culture of quality improvement throughout the organisation.
 Lead on the operationalisation of clinical improvement methodologies at facility level

Requirements In order to perform this role to experienced worker standard the post holder will need:

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
o Knowledge of the governance and UK legislative framework.
o An understanding of conduct clinical activity.
o Good working knowledge of IT particularly Excel and Meditech.

PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY
o Ability to analyze and critically appraise complex information

SPHERE OF INFLUENCE
o Diplomatic approach to Consultant body.
o Collaboration with Senior Management.
o Leverage Clerical/audit support

SKILLS AND EFFORT
o An innovative and flexible approach

o Desirable to have a Healthcare management or Quality Management Qualification or equivalent experience.
o Good communication and presentation skills

Personal office space required in which to conduct confidential interviews.
PC use.
Off site meetings
Occasional out of hours attendance.
